With extrusion lines up to 8,200 mm, Wuhu Mingzhu and Cangzhou Donghong chose IMS Technologies’ Monoslit 8500 and eMonoslit 8500 slitting machines, achieving high speed, consistent quality, and with the later e Series can get up to 25% energy savings in BOPA film production.

Context/Background
As the BOPA film market continues to grow, producers are investing in increasingly wide extrusion lines to boost production capacity, efficiency, and competitiveness. Operating with widths above 8 meters, however, requires slitting technologies capable of ensuring process stability, precise tension control, and consistently high-quality rolls.

It is in this context that we began our collaboration with Wuhu Mingzhu Film Making Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and Cangzhou Donghong Film Making Science & Technology Co., Ltd., two companies within the Dongsu Group specializing in BOPA film production.

The Dongsu Group is a well-established industrial player in China. Founded in 1960 and transformed into a private joint-stock company in 1998, the group today employs over 5,000 people, manages assets exceeding 20 billion yuan, and has maintained an average annual turnover of around 5 billion yuan over the past five years. Among its main companies, Cangzhou Mingzhu, listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2007, operates in the production of PE piping systems, BOPA films, and lithium-ion battery separators.

The Challenge
To support the growing BOPA market, the group’s companies decided to invest in the widest extrusion lines available on the market, with a width of 8,200 mm:

  • 2021 – Wuhu Mingzhu purchased 2 extrusion lines at 8,200 mm
  • 2022 – Cangzhou Donghong purchased 2 extrusion lines at 8,200 mm

Lines of this scale require slitting systems that can guarantee stable process conditions, precise tension control, consistent roll quality and high production speeds.
Thanks to our extensive experience in BOPA film processing and handling ultra-wide materials, these companies selected IMS Technologies as their technology partner for their slitting systems.

Our Solution
We supplied following solutions for these projects:

  • 2 Monoslit 8500 slitting machines for BOPA
  • 2 eMonoslit 8500 slitting machines for BOPA

Our machines are designed to deliver high production performance and flawless roll quality, even when processing ultra-wide films.

Key Technological Advantages
IMS Technologies’ solutions integrate multiple innovations to ensure process stability and precision:

  • Ultra-light, dynamic dancer roller – allows efficient adjustment of production parameters and rapid response to tension fluctuations.
  • Individually-driven guide rollers – enable precise control of web speed throughout the machine.
  • S-roll assembly with large wrap angle – ensures effective separation between unwind and rewind tensions, improving material stability during processing.

The machines reach a mechanical speed of up to 1200 m/min, ensuring high levels of productivity. Additionally, the new eMonoslit series provides a further advantage: up to 25% energy savings compared to the hydraulic version, enhancing overall operational efficiency.

The Result
Thanks to our technological solutions, Wuhu Mingzhu and Cangzhou Donghong can now reliably manage production on 8200 mm extrusion lines, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. This collaboration reflects our commitment to supporting customers with advanced technologies, applied expertise, and solutions designed for the most complex production challenges. Through strong partnerships and continuous innovation, we continue to help flexible packaging producers develop more efficient, sustainable, and high-performing processes.
